TANQ New Year Social

The TANQ New Year Social has taken the place of the Christmas Social. The event will be an informal evening where three panel members will share the benefit of their experiences in the legal profession in a question and answer session.
Have your questions ready for the panel - this is an interactive event and is an opportunity to find out all you ever wanted to know about the highs and lows of practicing law...!
The panel discussion will be followed by a buffet and refreshments and a chance to network and socialise.

John McGovern was enrolled as a solicitor in 1990 and qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in 2005. He has vast litigation and dispute resolution experience and offers advice mainly to small and medium sized businesses. His clients range from small sole traders to medium sized construction companies. He has almost twenty-five years experience in courts, tribunals, adjudications and arbitrations and has tremendous European contract experience, representing many top European football clubs in cross-border transfer negotiations. John is the current President of the Glasgow Bar Association and, in January 2010, was described by The Times newspaper as “one of Scotland’s most distinguished lawyers”.

Gilbert Anderson is the founding member of Andersons Solicitors LLP and fulfils both the roles of chairman and head of litigation within the company. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in personal injury law and is an immediate past Dean of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow. Gilbert was awarded Solicitor of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2009 and awarded Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (Defendant) at The Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards in November 2009. In Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession Gilbert is ranked as a leading practitioner in Personal Injury defendant work.

Tony McGrade is a director and the founder of McGrade & Co Employment Lawyers, practising exclusively in the field of employment law. He is a Law Society accredited specialist in employment law. He is on the panel of solicitors for the Equality and Human Rights Commission. He was the Scottish representative on the Employment Law Association, a UK wide organisation of employment lawyers, between 2007 and 2009. He is also a member of the Employment Law Committee of the Law Society of Scotland. He is a chair of the appeals panel for Employers in Voluntary Housing and is also a part-time immigration judge. He regularly provides training to solicitors, advisors and employers on a wide range of employment issues. He also has a particular interest in discrimination law.
